The third part of this series called Loving Unafraid is all about Warmth…being it, feeling it and transmitting it to others.
Look at a sunflower in the garden before the sun comes up. It’s a little saggy, isn’t it? But as soon as the heat from the sun hits that plant, it opens right up and grows its roots deeper into the earth…It blossoms.
Well, we humans are very much the same. We want to be seen in a warm loving way. Now I’m going to tell you about one of the ways that I know to do that. Are you ready?
Be the warmth you want to feel yourself!
Let warmth emanate from your eyes. You’ve seen many expressions in people’s eyes…the evil eye, the stink eye, the suspicious eye…right? How do they make you feel? I’m sure you feel pushed away, judged, maybe a little afraid.
Now picture those same eyes looking at you with love, acceptance, respect and playfulness. Now how do you feel? I bet you feel warm, relaxed, ready to be creative and have some fun.
This is what we need in order to be able to love unafraid…to jump right into a relationship with no holds barred…with trust.
How was your trip into work today? Did you notice how many heads are down into a cell phone? Especially young people…they are looking for communication from a device. There’s a huge distance and not much warmth coming from that little screen. We all need to raise our heads and look warmly into the eyes of others. It will make their day. And it will make yours too.
When we truly look at someone with warmth, we don’t even have to say anything. The message is all there in the eyes…and it will be felt. We need to be perceived in order to be.
This is the antidote to feeling unconnected, to feeling overwhelmed, to feeling isolated.
So practice it this week…see what a difference it can make…to the people around you…and to yourself. Really allow your warmth to come through your eyes. Really listen consciously. You are giving the best gift in the world…truly seeing and listening to another human being.
You can be the pebble in the water, rippling change through your village. You can change the world…one deep hug, two warm eyes at a time.
Your heart opens, the layers of protection melt away and you have the joyful experience of … just… being… you.
