I am a body with two arms…literally and figuratively.
One arm is Holistic Psychotherapy. The other is True Meditation.
Both work together as one entity …an entity full of joy and self-expression.
Today I want to explore these two arms with you a little and show you how they can blend and feed each other in an amazing way.
Holistic Psychotherapy starts with the premise that you are already Whole AND you are challenged in some way. Both are true; both are aspects of you that can either stop you in your tracks or can help you find ways to expand and become your true self.
I want you to think of your Wholeness as the Buddha part of you or the grandmother/grandfather of boundless, unconditional Love. This part of you can embrace and heal the broken, wounded, challenged part of you if you allow it to do so.That enormous, encircling embrace is so powerful it can bring forth tears of long-held sadness or anger previously unexpressed because it was never safe to do so. The feelings were just too enormous for the body to contain them.
Your Wholeness offers a safe place for deep healing. Trauma is seen, acknowledged, held and this results in huge relief and healing that can transform your life. That resonance leads to a new-found trust in the truth of who you really are. Body-centred psychotherapy can help you process what was simply too overwhelming before.
I see this everyday in my work as a Holistic Psychotherapist —I see clients who want to work with their Wholeness to begin to process and eventually resolve the broken parts of themselves. Your Wholeness is what can heal you.
My other arm works in the Hut Practice I offer every morning; here you’re invited to sink into the Great Natural Peace that is always there. You can think of that omnipresent peace as your Home….your Being state. By developing a mindfulness practice and showing up every day, you cultivate this inner home….a space of more joy, more resonance, more fulfillment.
You know how important your outer home is…it’s a place to feel safe and comfortable and it’s something we can share with others. Our inner home is even more important…this space of natural peace will sustain you, it will balance your world when chaos, illness, confusion reign outside. Your strong inner world will be the foundation needed, to not just survive the bumps in the road, but thrive in an abundance of well-being. Your true meditation practice will awaken you to the source, the well-spring of joy.
Now what if you were able to join these two arms together? What if the exploration of your wholeness healing could be supported and strengthened by your true meditation practice? I can imagine a huge ‘WE’ emerging from this connection…a continuous wave of interaction where each feeds and supports the other. Your ‘Doing’ and ‘Being’ selves functioning as one in an ever-spiralling journey to a state of greater wholeness. This wholeness then has to be shared…it will be overflowing and need to expand further and further to other people. How can we not want to allow this to happen?
I feel so blessed to have these two arms to support my life. Every day I feel that joyful bubbling up of energy and can’t help but want to share it with you. If you feel the call to this work and want some advice, please reach out to me…I’d love to hear from you!
You are not just a problem to be solved – your symptoms, grit and deep beauty are also a unique story to be told.
