I am so excited to talk with you about how self care can bring warmth and vitality to your life, your relationships and your work. And that’s just about it, isn’t it? That’s the whole ball of wax.
It seems like it should be the most obvious notion in the world – we have been given this incredible system – this body that creates millions of connections a second—that allows us to grow and move and heal on a daily basis.
You would think that it would be job # 1 to take care of this miraculous instrument. Right? And yet, so many of us walk around in a foggy state – ignoring the signals that our body is sending us, over-working, abusing drugs and/or alcohol, eating junk food, allowing stress to take a heavy toll – until we finally fall over in a heap, or worse.
There is another way!! And it is such a necessary part of living a meaningful life, that I want you to stop and take a moment to experience your body right now. Take a deep breath and become aware of this amazing package you inhabit. As you come aware of your heart beating, imagine that here is Action Central—-here is where you mobilize your whole system of mind, body and spirit.
Your body and mind are there to serve you heart —-some might call it the seat of your soul. I like to think of it as the ‘cave of your soul’—the hieroglyphics of your life are all on display here! Here you can experience deep knowing—-that knowing inside of yourself that can guide you and bring you to bliss consciousness. That is a goal worthing fighting for, wouldn’t you agree? I just want to say that again. Bliss consciousness.
So how do we get to that?
Well…let me remind you of Rumi’s wise words: “Half-heartedness doesn’t lead to majesty”. We have to jump in with our whole selves, our whole hearts to this vital first step—-we have to embrace Self Care completely and consistently. That means we have to do everything possible to build a healthy body and a healthy mind. Maybe your healthy body needs regular trips to the gym or running, or playing sports or practicing yoga and eating well and dancing or swimming in a lake.
Every person is unique, so here’s where listening comes in. You have to listen to your body—-it will tell you when you need more sleep or more protein or less noise—-it will tell you loud and clear—you just have to listen.
Same with a healthy mind focussed on your higher purpose. For me, quieting the mind with meditation is essential, or walking in the woods or surrounding myself with positive energy. You know what your mind needs to feel nourished, so provide that lovingly.
All of this—creating a healthy body and mind is not done in a vacuum. There is a greater purpose to all this exercise and meditation. That greater purpose is to serve the Soul. And your Soul is aligned to a Vision. So the very first awareness has to be towards that Vision. What is it that your Soul wants? Your body and mind can then mobilize to support that Vision in a symphony of Self Care. Does this make sense? Do you see the circular energy of this process? Body, Mind and Soul all working together to bring you into Bliss Consciousness. Love those words!
Allow me to sum this up. Picture a circle. Your Soul with its clear Vision is in the centre, emitting energy which propels you forward on your journey. It can only do this if your Body and Mind have been mobilized to support the Soul’s vision. The Body and Mind can only do this if they are healthy, loving cared for and focussed on the job at hand. They all work together and YOU are the conductor.
So I encourage you – no, I insist, that you start your Self Care program today! Get your roots down into mother earth, listen to your beautiful body and your deeper wisdom. I can guarantee you will be supported 100% in the flow of the Universe.
