We all want results, right? Isn’t that what all the ads talk about…back as far as the travelling snake oil salesman…”Results are what we’re after folks! And results are what you’ll get! That’s my guarantee …just sign here.”
But it’s true. We do want to see the results of our hard work. Sometimes, they’re not what we expected and the surprise can be good too…sometimes even better.
Results can come from Outer work and they can come from Inner work. What’s the difference? We may want different results from these two kinds of work, but I want to tell you that the process for achieving each is exactly the same. Here’s what we need to consider if we want to ensure good results:
- Frequency
- Duration
- Intensity
These qualities apply to both Outer and Inner work. Let me explain what I mean.
Let’s say you are focussed on starting a new company, setting goals for an accomplishment in your work, making more money to take your business to a new level or wanting something for your family that you think will make life better for all. This is Outer work and if you are able to be consistent in your efforts…focus on the work at hand daily and do it for a reasonable amount of time and then throw in a quality of intensity that is required….well then my friend, you can expect good results. You may see yourself winning that trophy or launching that new website or expanding your business with more creativity and prosperity.
At the same time, you may want to feel you are expressing who you really are or crave a deeper feeling of ‘aliveness’ in your everyday life. You may be longing for more peace of mind…a release from old trauma, judgements and resentments which are holding you back. You might feel you are missing meaningful purpose in your life. If issues like these are coming up for you, then you are being called to do Inner work. And like I said, the very same qualities apply to bring you the desired results.
Are you going inside on a consistent basis…doing daily meditation, listening deeply and without distraction to your inner wisdom, so that you know, without a doubt what your deepest desires are? Are you bringing a level of intensity to your commitment to this work? Are you putting aside enough time in your day to attend to your soul’s nourishment? If the answer is yes, then you are on your way to achieving your heart’s desire…a richer, more meaningful life. You are expressing your true self in everything you do, every conversation, every encounter….so that each moment is sparkling with life. Your life, not someone else’s.
Now …here’s the kicker! Do them both together. That’s right! Find a rhythm that allows you to move seamlessly from Outer to Inner work…back and forth…each one supporting the other, so that you become stronger and stronger in your commitment to yourself and your work.
This way, you accomplish what you want in your career, your relationships, your contribution to your community and you do it from your authentic self. You become proud of who you are and what you are achieving.
Does that sound like what you want? I think it’s what we all want and it can’t happen by magic. It happens when you commit fully…body and soul…to attract results…to transform into your most beautiful Self. Go back to the basics…remember the pyramid of Self-Care—-physical, mental and spiritual. This will give you the foundation for transformation.
Move your body, nourish your heart and mind with art, music and notice where your energy pulls you. Hear the call of your higher self and Dance to those rhythms…Outer and Inner …together.
Dance yourself into the life you’ve been longing for. It’s waiting for you!
