17 steps to manifesting the dream of your life

“The golden threads of the dream for your life are in the entanglements of your wounds.”

Are your symptoms here to remind you of who you really are and what you really want?

Are you struggling with health issues, relationship disenchantments, career challenges?

Are you dreaming of a passionate and full life that is at once genuine, abundant, joyful, purpose-driven while making a meaningful contribution to humanity?

I believe that this same dream is looking for you!

My intention is to help you to meet and engage this dream while getting the feet of this dream firmly on the ground.

Why? The world is in dire need of you being yourself – the unique being that you are – while making a meaningful contribution to the world; that is included in the dream of your life.

Getting the feet on this dream is your piece of the puzzle that makes this world a more authentic and glorious place to live.

How? When you are simply being you – without masks, open, genuine – it gives permission to everyone around and close to you to become more authentic about who they really are.

And when you rediscover who you are, you remember what you really want for yourself and your loved ones. Then, as if by magic, those close to you remember who they are – without masks, open, genuine – and what is important for themselves, their families and community.

And this is how light – your radiant wholeness and beauty that is already inside of you – comes into the world.

The key is to be willing to give up struggle and begin to align yourself – slowly but surely – with something that has been with you since you were a child: simply be your wholesome self, following what it is you are drawn to and naturally “built for” in this lifetime.

My aim is to invite you into the dream of your life by using some practical and simple steps that include clear intention, mindful focus, your own creativity and imagination, as well as some goal setting and vigilance.

I believe there are two key questions: Who am I? & What do I want?

Lets explore here:

These two questions represent the Moon and Sun in all of us: the feminine Being principles [Who you genuinely are] and the masculine Doing principles [What you do desire and want], respectively, that are within all things manifest, including ourselves.

I believe that when these two archetypal energies and building blocks of the universe are in harmony within ourselves, we automatically find that we are living on the ground of the dream of our lives: a passionate and full life that is at once genuine, abundant, joyful, purpose-driven while making a meaningful contribution to humanity.

Think how the mystery of nature itself is the brilliant creation, manifestation and reflection of the moon – night, root-bound, cyclical energies of simply Being [feminine energies] – living cooperatively in a coherent harmony with the sun – day, star-bound, linear energies of Doing
[masculine energies].

The dream of your life is of this same brilliant design and by working with these two archetypal energies – the moon’s Being energies that are located in your heart and the sun’s Doing energies that are located in your mind simultaneously – you can create and manifest the dream of your life, in all its glory.

This FREE 17 Step Report is designed as a tool to get you started in harmonizing these two energies in your life.

I am offering some simple practices to help guide you. This journey is part of a creative process that will help you to understand your desires and create balance and meaning in your life.

I believe that there are some simple steps like making a collage or vision board as an expression of the life you want is a useful and empowering tool on this path to re-acquaint yourself with who you “truly” are and what you “really” want.

This deep and rich expression of who you are and what you want in your collage reminds, motivates and empowers you to live your best life – NOW, TODAY, and EVERYDAY!

This vision for your life manifests as you walk towards a Dream that already has the feminine Being energies in perfect coherence and balance with your masculine Doing energies – even if you do not know how this vision for yourself is possible.

Step 1: Setting your clear intention

Your first step in this creative process is to set a clear intention. For example, this intention might be expressed as “to fully manifest and live the Dream Of My Life each and everyday – to the best of my abilities.”

Write down on a piece of paper – or in a dream journal – your own words, why it is that you are interested in creating a passionate and full life that is at once genuine, abundant and joyful.

Step 2: Take time for yourself.

Learn to spend some reflective time with yourself – away from the stresses of life, work, family, noise, entertainment – in short, the outside distractions in our life. Meditation can take many forms. Meditation is simply about being present to the friendship that already exists between the heart’s feminine energies and the mind’s masculine energies – and therefore the dream of your life.

The expression of this ancient and deep friendship might be known to you through knitting, walking, yoga, woodworking or cooking or some other contemplative “practices” with yourself. If you already have a practice, you are already on your way – simply begin to utilize this time, together with your intention in step one, to recover and rediscover the dream of your life.

If you do not already have a meditation practice, I have included one below.

Begin with a simple practice of meditation. My suggestion is to choose a time of day that allows you to begin to create a routine so that it becomes a regular simple activity, just like brushing your teeth. I choose the early morning before everyone is awake and usually after 10 minutes of yoga that invigorates and awakens my body. You can start with as little time as you need, even 5-10 minutes a day will make a difference. Start slowly with this practice and remember to be very gentle with yourself.

A simple practice of meditation:

Choose a comfortable spot, on a chair, on the floor, on a pillow… settle into yourself and become aware of where you are.

Find a body posture that allows you to keep your back straight, yet relaxed; tilt your head slightly forward; and when you have finished reading this through you can close your eyes and put a slight smile on your face …

Enter Silence … Know that council has begun …

Relax into your body by taking 3 deep breaths with the intention of gradually relaxing the body and bringing all your attention to your body … to your breath … to this present moment …

Simply relax a little more … this is not about struggling! … its much more about ease … empty the mind. Concentrate on breathing.

Now gently keep bringing your attention back to your breathing … and on the next inhalation repeat to yourself
“I have Arrived” … and on the next exhalation breathe out
“I am Home”…

Simply keep repeating – in a relaxed, very naturally and with normal breathing rhythm – this “I have Arrived” inhalation followed by the “I am Home” exhalation for the next 10 – 20 minutes.

Congratulations, you’re meditating!

Step 3: Listen to your inner voice.

As you are taking this time for yourself, start to notice, record and explore what you are sensing, hearing and feeling inside you. Pay attention to your nighttime dreams, synchronicities, coincidences also. You want to create an environment that will allow you to recognize the signs and patterns in your everyday life that are somehow related and pleasing; that encourages your intention in step 1 to fully live the dream of your life.

With pen and paper in hand, start to record what it is you really want for your life. This is a creative exercise you do not need to think about this part of the process; you simply let whatever words, images, impressions and feelings bubble up from inside. Repeat the question – what do I really, really want? – throughout the day, while answering as simply and honestly as possible.

Start by writing down – or drawing, painting, sculpting – everything and anything that may be related to the dream of your life. Even if you think it is crazy! Most of us have a healthy inner critic or judge. We do need to honor these parts of ourselves as they can be very useful at times. For now, however, the inner “critic” or “skeptic” will be needed later in the creative process.

Give yourself the permission and the freedom to let your imagination run, leap and play a while.

Step 4: Organize your thoughts.

I often suggest that it is helpful at this point to create some structure around your creative process. I like to work with the image of a peace sign as a rough guideline so you can “flesh” out pictures/images/words into some of the particular areas of your life.

I particularly like this universal image of peace because in the end, what we really, really want – after we have manifested the dream of our life – is “peace of mind,” or the “peace and calm” that comes from fulfilling our dreams.

Each third of the peace sign “pie” represents the 3 areas of your life: one third is relationships, one third is work and the last third is self-care.

“Relationships”: What does a truly genuine relationship look like to you? It could include lover or partner, family, kids, friends, work-mates, acquaintances, and all of the above village people. What would all of these relationships have in common if they were all thriving? What qualities do you admire most in friends, family, workmates? Express these chosen qualities – generosity, joy, care, challenge, authenticity, courage, warm-hearted-ness, passion, humor, beauty – somehow on your collage, even if you feel this does not exist at the present moment.

“Work” section of your peace pie – is automatically changed to the “service” area of your life since the word work has so many mixed feelings/connotations/etc. The idea behind “service,” however, is that this is what you do to serve humanity; its what you do naturally with ease and joy; its “second nature” to who you are; its what you are drawn to; its part of your “ultimate concern” and something that you want to practice for the rest of your life.

Perhaps you want to do this kind of service collaberatively, with people you respect; also it is meaningful, creative, and very well payed. Remember that this is what you are all about, what comes naturally – so even if you do not know exactly what the specific title or profession it is you want to practice for the rest of your life, you can still start to imagine the “feeling” of what it would be like to get up every morning and be excited about “work.”

“Self-Care” literally means how it is you take care of your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health – as well as social – needs and requirements regularly. For instance, if you need to read for 20 minutes after work for “mental health purposes,” then illustrate this somehow on your collage, with a picture of yourself or someone reading.

The same for the physical aspect: if you love yoga and hockey then your collage should reflect this, since this piece of art/collage is also to be a reflection of what your particular ideas of self-care and self-love are. If you like journal writing and telling the truth to your partner every Sunday morning while you walk around your local park is what you know you need to keep your emotional “relationship” body healthy, find a way to express this on your collage.

And lastly, if going to the church or temple and prayers and meditation are all part of your contemplative practice that keeps your spiritual body finely tuned, then gather a picture/symbol/image that reflects this for your collage.

If you are aware that you have all the building blocks of a “busy life,” but there is little balance and rhythm with all of these responsibilities, then express this somehow clearly on your collage.

Step 5: Become a collector.

Start a folder for your collage and become a collector. Collect words, thoughts, sayings, poems, images that inspire you even if you don’t know why. Cut out as many pictures/images/words as you want, from magazines, newspapers, old photo albums. Lay them out roughly on a big piece of cardboard or paper until they start to fit together in some fashion that feels right for you at this moment.

A collage consists of these images, words, symbols. Include anything that reflects the feeling of freedom and joy you have felt, deep on the inside, since you were a little person. For example, this could be a picture of you standing at the beach in all your glory as a 3-year-old. You may choose a picture of yourself when you looked physically great, an image of you in your community of belonging, a symbol of Buddha or your teachers, a cut-out of someone reading by a pond in bare feet, your mentor, your favorite high school teacher.

Pictures are worth a thousand words and represent what your ideas and feelings of freedom look, smell, touch, hear
and taste like at this time.

Remember this collage is to be reflective of who you are and of all you have ever wanted in your life. This synthesis of images should be representative of all of who you ever imagined yourself to be, without shyness or being small about it.
This is you, today, standing in and surrounded by your glory: the house(s), the car(s), the community, the partnerships and kids, the travel and luxury, the abundance’s and graces, the connections and beauty, the love and intimacies, the simple pleasures and sensual delights, the friendships and dances, contemplation’s and complexities, the rituals of nature, rhyme and rhythm, the creative expressions of you, the laughter and “effortless efforting” that is genuinely you.

“Keep your vision – always – exalted, and your feet firmly on the ground” – this is how your dream becomes manifest!

Step 6: Walk with your collage image (The Vision), your purpose and the feeling of your dream everyday.

Walk with this vision in your heart, as much as your life will permit, and then some. You will probably need to stretch a little and be open to learning how all of this manifestation process works – because it is a complete mystery and different for every one.

The heart does business in the world in a very different way than the mind. The heart, according to my teachers, does business in the silence, in the “quiet of the mind,” in the stillness of your being; also out in Nature and observing our own inner “Second Nature,” contemplatively. You get the picture.

The idea is to walk with this image of your collage in your sights and the feeling in your heart of you living this full life of peace – NOW! In other words, while you are walking towards what you want [Masculine doing energies] you embody the feeling of you arriving to the warm fires of who you already are [Feminine being energies].

Make a statement of commitment to yourself and ask the way to the spring of your dream: ”I am committed and willing to walk towards The Dream Of My Life [who I am and what I want] – show me the way.” Write this down in your dream journal. Date it.

Step 7: Make a plan and set some goals.

Begin to translate your images into long, medium and short-term goals. This is the practical and masculine part of our planning and the idea here is to get these “thousand word” images into practical, simple and accurate steps that can be followed.

Long term goals are the 5 to 10 year plans and goals that can be achieved with careful planning, focus and keep the main themes. Begin to identify these long term goals in your dream journal.

Medium term goals are the objectives that need to be completed in the next one to three years. Write out your medium term goals in your journal.

Short-term goals are the most immediate, “Next steps.” These are the calls, the meetings, the “to-do” list of today, tomorrow and this month that keep you on track with your overall long term objectives.

This is an important part of the creative process and needs to be handled with care, diligence and discipline. If this cannot be accomplished for any number of reasons then hire a life or destiny coach to aid you in the process.

Step 8: Remain unattached.

Then give up, to the best of your abilities, the minds constant preoccupation – and attachment – of trying to “figure out” how to do this and how it’s all going to work out. A lot of this approach is mysterious and therefore it is essential to be open and willing to walk with a bit of “I don’t know” in your life. Know and remember that its impossible for anyone to accurately predict the future, especially if you working with the universe. In other words, do not expect this noble project to unfold the way your mind is convincing you it will, because it most likely won’t!

Step 9: Getting side tracked.

When the mind starts its campaign to convince you that “this is stupid,” “it will never work because it never worked before for you,” “that this is simply impossible – otherwise everyone else would be living their freedom now too.” Do not be discouraged or fight back. Don’t fight this criticism. If you fight back you will simply get more resistance. Simply say to the resistant part of your mind – in a respectful tone – that you hear what it is saying, acknowledge it, but you are going to keep on walking towards this feeling of freedom anyways.

In other words, begin to make an ally out of this resistant mind by thinking friendship to the best of your abilities.

Step 10: Be vigilant and earnest.

Light a candle while you meditate under this collage for half an hour each morning. This breathes life into your collage and grounds it in your consciousness for the day. It will help you remember what life is all about, despite the present circumstances or situations, and help you stay out of “the mean-spirited road side houses” that are in plentiful supply in our culture/world.

Remember the old adage: that what ever you put your attention on, grows. Focus your attention on your collage/heart/feeling of freedom as much as possible in any given day – and watch it, slowly but surely, grow and manifest.

Step 11: Deepen your trust.

Begin to trust the universe to show you the way perhaps through coincidences, dreams, “signs” and hunches – all the right brain and Feminine energy “stuff.” The more important part of this process is to begin to be informed by the small quiet intuitive voice inside.

Note that these 17 steps set you on the right path to the dream of your life is not strictly the “business plan” approach to making money but could light the way towards your hearts desire.

This is the “Universes Plan” for manifesting FREEDOM – which includes lots of financial freedom, but also joy, beauty; rich, truthful and deep friendships with self, lovers/partners, family, kids and work colleges; intimacy, creativity, ease, meaning; fulfilling work/service, peace of mind/peace, being generative in your community, self-care, belonging and sacredness This plan not only utilizes all of your brain – left and right AND the corpus colossus (which is the bridge that keeps the left and right brains working together and in harmony) – it also employs your emotional, spiritual and physical bodies, not to mention your “universal” body!

Step 12: Lean into your challenges.

The truth is that various challenges, obstacles, problems are supposed to challenge you to test your commitment, resolve and courage. In other words, keep going despite adversities.

“Consistency is a sign of sincerity,” one of my teachers use to say.

Step 13: Keep the main thing [the image of your collage & the heart-felt-feeling-of-your-dream], the main thing.

Your main job right now is to keep the main thing (i.e., your collage image & feeling of you living your dream], the main thing in you life. Remember you are to “stand in this energy,” and, at the same time, you are to walk towards your goals, deadlines, meetings and calls.

What this energy does is draw to you – through the mysterious feminine magnetic universal energies – your desires while the “walking towards” your collage and dream moves you physically closer and closer towards your goals. In other words, your dream meets you somewhere in the middle.

Step 14: Choose the middle road.

Isn’t this what Buddha said: avoid extremes – it is all about taking the middle road – balance, moderation, and equanimity?

To me this means finding a relaxed, alert and mindful approach to everyday life in your ordinary daily activities – with kids, dream interpretations, staff meetings, paying bills, making love to your partner, doing chores, putting oil paint on the canvas, driving kids to soccer, practicing flute lessons and alike – where you are in rhythm with your life, balanced in the most honorable sense of the word, standing in the pride of the spirit, humbled before the grace of it all, and, above all, present with all the presence you can muster for all of your chosen responsibilities.

Step 15: Keep Yourself Open.

Keep open, observant and willing to try other opportunities. For example, there are actually a thousand ways money can come to you so don’t cut off 999 of ways by continuing to believe that the bank is the only source of funding, when, despite your best efforts, banks continue to reject your proposals for your “dream” home business.

There are other avenues.

The answer to your financial delimma might be right under your nose but you cannot see the forest for the trees, so to speak.

One of my teachers use to say that when confused or in doubt, imitate nature. This might mean more time out there in Nature where you can get real inspiration and a lot of answers that you cannot hear in your hectic ordinary everyday life.

In Ireland, where I was born, the lobster fisherman on the west coast knew that the prize lobsters were in the “neglected Places” of the sea. Hence the wonderful old Celtic adage says that “Beauty loves neglected places.” Perhaps your “lobster” is hidden in a neglected place!

Step 16: Deal with “Stuck-nesses”.

Whenever you get “stuck” in your life – with work, family, the bank account, things not going your way (usually it is because life is not going the way you “thought” it should go), and alike – take out a photograph of your collage to remind you of why it is you are willing to slow down, take some deep breaths, perhaps even temporarily walk away from this present circumstances to get some perspective and fresh inspiration in overcoming the present challenge.

Keep your eye on the prize, put what is needed to get there and while maintaining a healthy perspective. Sometimes the walk simply “reboots” the collage “system,” and the fresh air is exactly what you needed to take this noble project to the next level of manifestation.

If your attention is on the problem(s) then the problem(s) simply increases. If however you put your attention and gaze on the Dream Of Your Life, that too, will get bigger.

Step 17: The fuel for this plan is the NOW!

Although this is a future plan in the sense that these are things that you want to manifest that you do not have in your life at this moment, the “means” (the “how to” of this plan) to bring this dream to you like a magnet is to stand in the collages “feeling of freedom” – NOW!

The universe works most effectively in the present (It’s the mind that works mostly in the past and future) therefore, utilize and harness this universal creative energy, focus and language, on and in the present.

In other words, this creative process and plan for the manifestation of the Dream Of Your Life becomes activated and mobilized by employing the universes two energies: the “doing” masculine energies of creating a plan and following its goals AND by the “being” feminine energies of accepting, noticing, meditating, and allowing the universe to gently guide you toward your dream.

The more you keep yourself present and alert in your everyday life, the more you are in alignment with the Dream Of Your Life, the quicker your dream comes to you in all its brilliance and glory.

“ALWAYS keep your vision exalted – and your feet firmly on the ground” ELMAN

The Dream Of Your Life – what you truly, madly, deeply, and wholeheartedly want and desire in your life for you and for those you love – a passionate and full life that is at once genuine, abundant, joyful, purpose-driven while making a meaningful contribution to humanity – can be delivered to you by following these 19 steps above.

You simply have to get clear on what you want, clearly intend and ask for it. Then genuinely get behind these words and images, and stand in the magnetic, potent feelings, goals and actions of the “whole of that,” NOW!
“And the highest price you pay for being yourself
is de-masking others … taking the mask off others.
For when they see you naked before them they have no choice but to remove their own mask.
And that is how your light …
that you find within yourself …
creates light for the whole world.
The planet is crying out for you to be yourself.
All species, all plants, all are dependent on
being who you truly are.”
